On the 11th of August the long awaited DVD will be ready, with many highlights from the Slide Factory Trombone Festival 2009.
Enjoy the festival again and order the double-DVD with artists as: Joseph Alessi, Michel Becquet, Jorgen van Rijen, Stefan Schulz, Corpus Quartet, New Trombone Collective, Christian Lindberg, trombone classes from Berlin, Lausanne, Lyon, New York and Rotterdam, Young Trombone Collective, the square spectacle with all participants and much more.
Many people filled in the survey about Slide Factory 2009. Especially the big amount of artists and the quality of the concerts were praised by the respondents.
The results will be taken as input for the next festival in 2011. Three persons who filled in the survey will receive a DVD/CD packet.
New Trombone Collective wins awards

On
Friday June 26 Don Lucas(USA), chairman of the International
Trombone Association, , gave away the “President’s Award” in
Arhus, Denmark, during the International Trombone Festival.
The award is given to individuals or groups as a recognition
for important contributions to the trombone world.
The New Trombone Collective received the President’s Award for their positive
impact to the international trombone world, also for organizing the succesful
Slide Factory Trombone Festival in Rotterdam NL. In the words of the president: ” The
New Trombone Collective are doing things that are pushing the frontiers of the
art form for our wonderful instrument the trombone. I very much enjoyed the variety
of styles, settings...everything...fantastic and bravo!! I eagerly await your
continued expressions”.
Next to this international recognition the Dutch fund “Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds
Zuid Holland” announced that the NTC will receive the prestigious award “Elly
Ameling Prijs voor muziek”. The award (an amount of € 7500) will be issued November
13th at a ceremony in the City Hall in Rotterdam NL.
Documentary and concert Urbie Green

Together
with Jiggs Whigham and director Christiaan van Schermbeek
the NTC will make a documentary about the life, career and
music of the american trombonist Urbie Green.
Urbie Green
is mainly known for his records “21 trombones” from the sixties.
In the beginning of 2010 a concert will take place with an
ensemble of 20 trombones with 3 top soloists with music of
Urbie Green and new compositions for the same line-up.
The
documentary and the concert will be available on DVD.
