Program concept
In order to encourage the participation of
trombone players of all levels Slide Factory offers the following
program.
The philosophy behind Slide Factory has its
roots in the “Rotterdam
School” The trombone players of the New Trombone Collective
all studied in Rotterdam (hence the “Rottterdam School”).
They were greatly influenced by their teacher George Wiegel,(now
director of Codarts) as well as their participation in master
classes given by Michel Becquet and Bart van Lier. There were
also various exchanges with Michel Becquet’s trombone
class from Lyon which resulted in a cross pollination of styles.
Bart van Lier, jazz trombonist, also contributed greatly to
the development of the Rotterdam School.
