Schouwburgplein Rotterdam

Slide Factory wouldn’t be Slide Factory without a great show to top it off. The Dutch Trombone Choir consisting of amateur and professional trombonists and students from the Rotterdam Conservatory will create a thrilling musical landscape on May 5th at the Schouwburgplein (in front of concert hall the Doelen).

Leading up to this spectacle short, unexpected concerts will be given in the center of Rotterdam by students of the Rotterdam Conservatory bringing the trombone more and more into the foreground. Taking place in the heart of Rotterdam’s city life these short concerts will lead the innocent bystander on a musical adventure climaxing in an overwhelming experience at the Schouwburgplein at 17:00.

There, four groups of players of all levels will take position in the form of a square and play an exciting multi-choir arrangement of the Lamentations of Jeremiah by Thomas Tallis (1505-1585), arranged by Koen Kaptijn.

In the hands of the New Trombone Collective it certainly will not be an ordinary performance! Woven into the arrangement will be unusual sound effects, played by students of the Rotterdam Conservatory. The music of Tallis and the sound effects will come together in the end for a sensational finale.

In this way visitors of the festival and people just passing by will be treated to both refined pearls from the classical tradition and the spectacular possibilities that a huge group of trombonists offer.

It will also be an unforgettable experience for the trombonists themselves to perform with players of all levels in one piece.
